Monday, March 25th – The Comedy Store, West Hollywood, CA
It’s a rough night at Potluck, which is a perfect reminder that this is a low-stakes scenario. The booker isn’t here, comics are bombing back-to-back, and the audience is tough to crack. I make a mental note that if I get a spot, I will treat it like I have nothing to lose.
Right now, nothing to lose means: new material. Well, not new new, but new enough. In-progress jokes. I have secured a date for an album recording1 and I have some time left to fill out. Specifically: about 15 minutes. It’s time to start building and shaping this thing in earnest.
I do ultimately get a spot. 3 minutes to try things out. I do my set, and get all the information I need.
Wednesday, March 27th – Guadalajara Mexican Grill, Temecula, CA
This is the first of many proper headlining spots I have in the calendar already for the rest of the year. Not every comic would consider doing 40+ minutes at a Mexican restaurant in Temecula a “proper headlining spot” but I’m built different.2
